What Are Grease Fittings?

Bearing cap grease fittings for type FC and FLS gate valves are small fittings on the outside of the bearing cap. These fittings are used to allow grease to be pumped into the bearing cap so that the bearings inside can be lubricated without needing to remove the bearing cap. The lubrication prevents the bearings from seizing and allows for smooth operation of the valve while the design makes the task more convenient.

Installation

The FC new style bearing cap grease fittings have threaded connections for installation into the bearing cap. The FC style also requires two of the fittings per bearing cap. On the other hand, the FLS is a tap in fitting and only requires one fitting per bearing cap.
