Find an installation tool for the Type H back pressure valve that is affordable and compatible with Cameron valves.
What is an Installation Tool for Type H Back Pressure Valves?
A type H back pressure valve installation tool, also known as a stinger, is used to install type H back pressure valves and type H two way check valves in the tubing hanger. This is a critical piece of equipment for putting back pressure and two-way check valves in place that will reduce downtime and minimize operating costs.
The tool consists of a:
- Body
- Tip
- Sliding thread
- 2 pins
The sliding thread allows the operator to install the valve counter-clockwise then lift up to disengage the lower pin from the valve and remove the tool counter-clockwise. The installation tool can be used for removal as well but we recommend using a dedicated removal tool as it has the strength required to remove the BPV and TWCV without causing any damage to the install tool or valve.
Installation Tool Materials and Construction
All of the components of the installation tool are manufactured in-house at Heshka Oil. The components are machined from hardened steel and then finished with a QPQ Nitride coating.
Heshka Oil can manufacture the installation tool from any desired material, although it is recommended the material have high yield strength.

Removal Tool for Type H Back Pressure Valves
Find a removal tool for the Type H back pressure valve that safely disconnect your valves for less than Cameron equipment.
What is a Removal Tool for Type H Back Pressure Valves?
The removal tool, sometimes called a “retrieval tool”, is used to remove the type H back pressure and two-way check valves.
The removal tool is connected to the tool adapter on a dry rod or lubricator by inserting the end of the removal tool into the tool adapter and inserting a pin through both pieces. The removal tool is then run down until contact with the back pressure or two-way check valve and threaded clockwise.
The outer diameter (O.D.) thread of the valves is left-handed so removal of the BPV or TWCV is completed by continuing to rotate the removal tool clockwise.
Removal Tool Materials and Construction
The Heshka Oil removal tool is machined in-house from a hardened steel material. After the machining process, we coat the removal tool with a QPQ Nitride. Our removal tools come complete with a pin for connection to the adapter tool and a set screw for the pin.
Though the standard removal tool is made from hardened steel, Heshka can manufacture the removal tool to any material specifications provided to meet our customers’ requirements.
